AI and agentic code creation are transforming how developers interact with observability data. In this AI era, CodeStream no longer provides the impact it once did. To better support our customers, we will be strategically consolidating resources to focus on delivering unified, AI-first experiences at the core of the New Relic intelligent platform. As a result, the CodeStream In-IDE extension will reach its End-of-Life (EOL) effective November 5, 2026.
What's changing
Effective November 5, 2026, the CodeStream extensions will be removed from all IDE marketplaces, along with associated cloud-based components and API endpoints. As a result, direct API access to New Relic data through the CodeStream extension from within your IDE will no longer be available.
Your observability data still resides on the New Relic intelligent platform — only the user interface inside the IDE is going away. Stack traces (errors inbox), log records, dashboards, and entity transaction data remain where they've always been. Moving forward, you'll simply access them through the browser interface.
We recommend customers move toward agentic integrations and the New Relic AI MCP Server. The New Relic Intelligent Observability Agentic platform has evolved to a System of Intelligence that embeds observability directly into existing developer workflows (GitHub Copilot, VS Code, Claude Code).
What you need to do
Before November 5, 2026:
- Uninstall the CodeStream extension from your IDE (VSCode or IntelliJ).
- Delete any API keys generated specifically for CodeStream.
This ensures your environment stays secure and up to date, since CodeStream's services and API endpoints will no longer be available or supported after the EOL date.
What you can use instead
The New Relic Agentic Platform enables AI agents to deliver the full value of observability insights and actions directly into IDEs, ITSM, CI/CD, and collaboration tools — without context switching.
