--- title: Choose your data center source: https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/accounts/accounts-billing/account-setup/choose-your-data-center --- New Relic's global data hosting structure consists of multiple regions to serve customers worldwide: the United States (US) region, the European Union (EU) region, and the Japan (JP) region. The US region is the default. ## Regions and availability [#regions-availability] Your choice of data center is not limited by your geographic location. You can choose to create an organization with data hosted in any of our supported regions, regardless of where you or your systems reside. You are solely responsible for the selection of the appropriate processing and storage region based on any data localization or data sovereignty laws, regulations, and any other third-party legal requirements applicable to you. ## Feature limitations by region [#feature-limitations-by-region] While New Relic strives to provide consistent functionality across all regions, some features have limited regional availability: ### US region (default) - Full feature availability (baseline) - All New Relic products, features, and APIs are supported ### EU region New Relic offers almost all the same active products, features, support offerings, and performance levels in the EU region as what is offered in the US region (default). **Exceptions:** The following are not supported with an EU region account: - APM's [weekly performance reports](https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/apm/reports/performance-reports/) are not available. - Deprecated products and features are not available. ### JP region New Relic's Japan data center provides comprehensive observability capabilities for organizations. However, some features and legacy APIs are not available in this region. For each unavailable feature, recommended actions are provided to help you transition to supported alternatives. > #### ⚠️ IMPORTANT > > If you require any of these capabilities, contact your account representative to discuss options. To report infrastructure data to the JP region, you need minimum agent versions. For details, see \[our pricing page](/docs/accounts/accounts-billing/new-relic-one-pricing-billing/new-relic-one-pricing-billing). \*/ ## AI regional performance [#ai-regional-performance] Our AI-powered features may vary in performance, speed, and capabilities depending on the hosting region you select at sign-up. Because infrastructure, language model deployment, and local data compliance regulations differ globally, AI functionality may not be completely uniform across all regions. ## Single-region organizations [#account-structure] When you sign up for New Relic, a [New Relic organization](https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/accounts/accounts-billing/account-structure/new-relic-account-structure) is created. This is what contains all your accounts and data. When creating an organization, you must specify the data center region. By default, a New Relic organization and its accounts can only be in a single data center region. ## Create a region-specific organization [#create-regional-account] By default, signing up creates a US region organization. To create an organization in another region, expand the section for your region below. **EU region** To create a New Relic organization in the EU region: 1. Go to the New Relic [signup page](https://newrelic.com/signup/). OR If you have a specific offer from a New Relic partner, follow that link directly. 2. Follow the online steps to create your account. 3. From the **Select your region** dropdown, select **European Union**. 4. Agree to the [Terms of Service](https://newrelic.com/terms "Link opens in a new window"). 5. When you receive an email confirmation message, select the link to confirm your account and sign in to New Relic. Then [install](https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/new-relic-solutions/get-started/intro-new-relic) or [update to](https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/new-relic-solutions/new-relic-one/install-configure/update-new-relic-agent) the most recent agent version. **JP region** The JP region is available exclusively through New Relic's Japan entity. To create a New Relic organization in the JP region: 1. Go to the New Relic [Japan signup page](https://newrelic.com/jp/sign-up-japan). 2. Fill out the form and select the Japan data center. 3. The New Relic Japan sales team will receive your request and assist you with setting up your organization. 4. For the Japan region pricing details, [contact sales](https://newrelic.com/contact-sales) or your account representative. ## Operational access and processing [#data-retention] While your [Customer Data](https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/licenses/license-information/product-definitions/new-relic-one-pricing-definitions/#customer-data) may be temporarily processed by New Relic outside of your chosen region for certain features and functionality within the services, your Customer Data is stored in your selected region for the [New Relic database](https://docs.newrelic.com/docs/data-apis/get-started/nrdb-horsepower-under-hood/). New Relic may access and process Customer Data in the United States and such other jurisdictions where New Relic has affiliates and subsidiaries, including as may be necessary to maintain, secure, or perform the services, to provide technical support, or as necessary to comply with law or a binding order of a government body. [Systems Operations Data](https://newrelic.com/termsandconditions/services-notices) is stored in the US region for all available regions. Other account-related information, including subscription information, billing, and internal monitoring, may be stored in the US region in addition to your selected region. At this time, we do not support transferring or sharing Customer Data from existing New Relic accounts across regions.
